Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV is maintaining a strong pace of sales in Japan since the new 2016 model year was launched.

With 1,145 sales last month, and 113% growth year-over-year, the Outlander PHEV seems to really enjoy the fall – unlike its all-electric colleague Nissan LEAF which has been patiently awaiting the 30 kWh versions arrival in December.

9,664 Outlander PHEV have been sold so far this year, and guarantee Mitsubishi a new annual sales record as just 9,608 were sold in 2013 and 10,064 in 2014.

November and December could add more than 2,000 and raise the bar by about 20% over 2014.

In total, more than 29,300 Outlander PHEV have been sold to date in Japan.

Meanwhile, zero Outlander PHEV have been sold in the U.S. due to an oft-delayed launch. Mitsubishi says Outlander PHEV will finally go on sale in the U.S. next year in late April/May.

    April now late April/May?

That is consistent with recent news.

      From August:

…what you might have been thinking of is a report from us about a year ago (before there was any confirmations/release dates at all for US) that Mitsu internally was scheduling the Outlander PHEV to arrive in the US in April 2016.

That was based on us learning when the ETA to arrive at port was, and then projecting a sale date. I believe the official “May” date is Mitsu’s way of padding for unseen hold-ups/delays (just ask Chevy about this issues with the 2016 Spark EV, lol)

        Ah ok, thanks.

It’s a confusing rollout that is for sure. And many of us (including myself) are anxious to just go buy one already, (=

I could imagine they will sell 2000 units in US, will be interesting!

just shows what a great car this is, they can only make about 55,000 per year so USA should get between 1,000 to 2,000 per month.
it still needs more EV range as 50km is too little.
