Lotus Evora 414E

With 738 pound feet of torque, 408 horsepower, and a 0-60 time around 4 seconds, I am not talking about the latest Italy has to offer. This weekend at the Goodwood Speed Festival, Lotus announced that they are currently in the testing phase of the new Evora 414E

Powered by two electric motors that send power through the rear wheels with a custom designed seven speed Xtrac transmission, the Lotus Evora 414E has a pure electric range of 30 miles, but will come with an extended power plant using either gas or ethanol.

“The surge of torque is like an ocean wave,” proclaimed the Principal Vehicle Dynamics Test and Development Engineer at Lotus Simon Corbett. Talking about the 738 pound feet of torque offered in the 414E, the capability of such a light wieght car to have this much power is astounding. To put this in prospect, the standard Lotus Evora has only 250 pound feet of torque.

Inside you will find elegant touches including dual leather sport seats, an alcantara head liner, and a racing inspired, flat bottom steering wheel. Currently, the Lotus Evora 414E is a two tone black and orange combination that has great eye appeal.

No date has been set as far as production, but count me in for a test drive! To learn more about the testing of the Lotus Evora 414E, take a look at the press release.
