Leonardo DiCaprio Signs Up To Sell Fisker Automobiles
Leonardo DiCaprio’s already extremely close relationship with Fisker just got closer, as the actor agreed to formalize an agreement to promote Fisker’s lineup of extended range automobiles (which currently numbers in the 1s, the Karma).
Mr. DiCaprio, like Steve Jurvetson with the Tesla Model S, received the very first Karma extended range sedan off Fisker’s assembly line, and is also an investor in the private company (which likely explains why a press release had to be formed-what with fair disclosure and all).
The actor will participate in conversations on the auto manufacturer’s future plans for the advancement of sustainable, responsible vehicles. He will work closely with Fisker on marketing and promotional initiatives aimed at bringing attention to sustainability and environmental awareness. Fisker, in turn, will support the charitable work of the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation around the globe.
“My foundation supports efforts to secure a sustainable future for our planet and all its inhabitants,” says DiCaprio. “I am delighted to be working with Fisker Automotive to promote this shared vision.”
Given Fisker’s recently troubles with the roll out of the Fisker Karma (battery recall, user interface issues, garage fire), and the upcoming Atlantic (delays and pricing – news that was reported here first at InsideEVs), the company can certainly take advantage of the credibility an actor of Leonardo’s caliber brings to the table, and they hope this addition will help people identify them as a serious builder of extended range vehicles.
