John McGuinness & Team Mugen Win 2014 SES TT Zero!

The 2014 SES TT Zero race on the Isle of Man is already behind us and now we can see how it looks on-board of Mugen Shinden San electric motorcycle.

Here is the video from the record breaking John McGuinness lap, in which he was able to reach a stunning average speed of 117.366 mph across the 37.73-mile course. This is unbelievably fast.

According to the Team Mugen press release, 117 mph is not considered the limit. However, there is nothing decided on next year’s race yet, but we believe that after 115 mph, the next goal will be 120 mph.

“TT legend John McGuinness won his 21st TT race on Wednesday morning when he took the SES TT Zero race in record-breaking style. Riding the Mugen Shinden, McGuinness was always in the lead and with a stunning new lap record of 117.366mph, he came home 23.3s clear of team-mate Bruce Anstey. Rob Barber, on the Ohio State University Buckeye machine, took third.”

And for once an electric motor on a race vehicle has a decent sound.

I found this link interesting as the base technology for the motor. http://ridemission.com/products/traction-motors/
