Hyundai E4U, Not Likely Headed For Production Anytime Soon

Hyundai, at the Seoul Motor Show, showed off its E4U, an egg-like one seat electric vehicle.  Apparently it is also one of the winners at something called the “IDEA Festival.” Words escape us.

We could describe it, but thankfully someone has taken some video of the Segway-car-personal mobility thing.  What does E4U stand for?  According to a statement from Hyundai on the vehicle, “E4U embraces 4 Es; Egg, Evolution, Electricity and Eco-friendliness.”

Some basic stats on the E4U:

  • 80 kg (176lbs)
  • electric motor 500W
  • max. speed 30km/h (18 mph)
  • rear legs can be folded, and the side parts are also detachable

The could be classified as an electric bicycle in North America, if it has bike pedals installed. No licence required.

Why do all these goofy concept personal mobility things look like an even more ridiculous Segway? Must be hoping to cash in on its success. 🙂

LOL, the pic of the guy driving is labeled “E4U nerd”.

I want to see it drag race a PUMA/EN-V. At least these had room for 2 people.
