Europe’s quickest electric car – Flux Capacitor – which in fact is a hardcore conversion of the Enfield 8000 ECC, got its 5 minutes of fame in Fully Charged.

Robert Llewellyn’s introduction starts with the Oil crisis – 40 years ago, which triggered a decent number of electric car projects with lead-acid batteries. Some of them still await a second lithium-ion life.

Earlier this year, Jonny Smith ran Flux Capacitor at the Santa Pod drag race track. Flux covered the quarter mile in 10.84 seconds at 121.11 mph (0-102 mph in 6.9 seconds).

Originally, the Enfield 8000 ECC wasn’t even able to hit a 60-mph top speed, so the electric conversion definitely improved that car’s performance.

    I’m impressed how well the car behaves in regular traffic. Not too many drag cars have fully operational directional signals! Knowing you have two Warp9 motors under your right foot sure makes passing a breeze!

    Well, it looks like they were having fun. I would love to pull up next to some big V8 and challenge them for a drag race. Can you imagine the look on their faces when they lose?

    What a riot, Thanks Tony & Robert for the fun.. it is a wonder to me that the locked rear diff doesn’t twist that poor body shell to the point of popping the doors open (which I saw happen in a drag corvair, lol).

    I was disgusted by them “burning rubber”, especially for no good reason. It was childish behavior.
