The ‘interesting’ Bee-Bee XS

There is no easy way for start-ups to introduce electric cars on the market, the barriers to entry are known to be very high, so here French company Bee Bee Automotive tries its hand at recreational vehicles.

The fun, utility vehilce, the Bee-Bee XS was presented in Geneva in it’s natural environment –the beach.

In practice, the Bee-Bee XS looks like something between a golf cart and a Bolloré Bluesummer. Still, it could attract some niche success, or even some hotel/resort business, but we are not sure if it trule achieve market success – time will tell.

Quick specs:

  • 10 kW (20 kW peak) induction motor
  • 7.2 or 9.6 kWh lithium-ion battery (80 or 100 kg) and up to 110 km (68 miles) range with larger battery
  • weight of 660 kg (1,455 lbs) without batteries (80 or 100 kg)
  • top speed of 50 or 90 km/h

Despite all the efforts to develop and present at a major show, it seems that there are still funny bugs in the XS presentation on the stage – with a display noting the “20 kWh” induction motor and “9.6 kW” battery:

Looks nicer than most GEM cars…

Another French car startup that will go bankrupt, I fear. Everything is below everage, apart from the price. This could have had a chance against the Think! many years ago.

    Nice Chinese eBay LED DRL’s

  4. Stephen Hodges says:

There have been lots (50+) small car makers in France for many years, as they have a category for little shopping cars (not to go on motorways, needing less of a license, limited performance, rather like a NEV). They may be fine with this one too.
