Audi will take to the stage at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show with its latest E-Tron concept.
This one, known officially as the Audi Quattro Sport E-Tron Concept, will be the hottest Audi to ever carry the E-Tron name.
Though no finalized specifications have been released, Car and Driver reports this:
“We hear that the Sport Quattro concept is a plug-in hybrid, powered by a combination of the Volkswagen Group’s twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V-8 and an electric motor that produces nearly 150 horsepower. Total output should surpass 600 horsepower, which will loft the car into the rarified air of the supercar stratosphere. Power will be transmitted to all four wheels, logically, through a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic. A 0-to-60 time of 3.0 seconds and a top speed of 200 mph likely will be possible.”
So, here we have one more plug-in Audi that will likely never see the light of day. Not that we much care though, as this stratospheric machine will be cost prohibitive for all but the most wealthy of individuals.
Car and Driver says the Sport Quattro Concept will “be capable of driving on electric power alone” and says that the “plug-in hybrid powertrain qualifies the vehicle for Audi’s “e-tron” moniker.”
It’s a head turner, that’s for sure. But we doubt it’ll be turning heads on public roads in the near future. This Audi is a show queen. Nothing more.
