Nissan GTR Versus Tesla Model S

At the drag strip, at elevation, how does the Tesla Model S fare against a 2014 Nissan GTR?

“2014 Nissan GTR vs Tesla Model S Drag Race Electric at Bandimere Speedway in Morrison, CO at almost 6000 feet above sea level.”

Does the altitude give the Model S an advantage?  You bet it does, but is that advantage enough for the Model S to overcome the Nissan GTR?

Watch the video to find out.

I thought, surely not another silly irrelevant drag strip run as though that is any measure of a car’s performance.

But heck, that GTR really moves. And we know it goes around corners as well.

Yeah, that’s a beat down. The times indicate it is much worse than it looked. And with proper launches, the Tesla wouldn’t beat the GTR off the line either. The GTR routinely runs 0-60 in 2.7 Seconds!

Higher altitude doesn’t make as much of a difference with a (twin) turbocharged engine. C’mon, guys. Car nerd stuff 101.

Yeah, I was thinking the exact same thing as I read that sentence about the altitude. No need to even watch the video..

      1. Vox says:

Higher altitude still makes a difference in the overall performance of the GTR engine. In theory there should not be a significant difference but in experience anyone who has driven a turbo/twin turbo will tell you there is significant lag (has to do with volume of air being sucked in.)

The Tesla Model S is a marvel but it got thoroughly spanked by a 4-seater that costs roughly the same.

    No mention if it’s a 60KWh or 85KWh or P85+ Model S.

So how much is that Nissan?

I hardly ever see one with the roadster. At least that looks like, and was designed as a sports car.
