New Color Choices For 2014 Chevrolet Volt: Ashen Gray Metallic and Brownstone Metallic

Chevrolet took some time today out of the busy day of April Fool’s pranking (see below) to announce that the 2014 Chevrolet Volt will go on sale in the United States in “late May” of this year.

Along with that news, General Motors let slip of this first two new options that will be available on the ’14 Volt; new color choices.

  • Brownstone Metallic
  • Ashen Gray Metallic

These two new colors will join the current 2013 color choices to round out the palette:

  • Silver Ice Metallic
  • Black
  • Blue Topaz Metallic
  • Crystal Red
  • Silver Topaz Metallic
  • Summit White
  • White Diamond Tricoat

Leaving the color wheel for 2014 is

  • Cyber Gray Metallic
  • previously discontinued Viridian Joule

However, before this announcement was made, some of the fellows in Chevy’s “social media” group thought it would be funny to take advantage of date on the calendar (April 1st), and spoof an ‘alternate’ upcoming color choice.

“Introducing the new 2014 Wild Salmon Pink Metallic Volt. Not only does it feature a hot pink and yellow metallic paint that changes color when you drive North or swim upstream, but it also comes with matching water boots and fishing pole for you outdoor enthusiasts.”

More important than a couple new color choices, most insiders expect that a new, lower priced, lineup structure for the 2014 Chevrolet Volt will be introduced, as well as perhaps some new options integrated from the upcoming, limited-run, Cadillac ELR production, that will get underway late in 2013.

Had the Cole monthly report actually happened today, it would have given me much pleasure to Photoshoped them ALL in a much faster red ………………..

    1. Roy_H says:

That’s what I was about to say. Red is the fastest!

That’s not exactly PC. The correct term is “Multi-Chromatic” peers.

New options from the upcoming Cadillac ELR? I will take the heated steering wheel please. Heated back seats would be nice also. Cadillac’s gas cars have both, and they don’t even need them like EVs do!

    GSP

PS. What did you say? The ELR has neither? Well, I guess we have to buy Nissan’s new loss-leader Leaf S, which has both standard, like a proper EV should.

I hope they put the powermat cell phone charger in there. I wonder how they will integrate the CUE system w/the Voltec info.

The heck with adding a useful heated steering wheel (I live in chicagoland), I want the power-assisted covered cup holders (not) !

    1. GeorgeS says:

I’m with scott on this one!

  4. Future Leaf Driver says:

WHAT! Viridian Joule is discontinued!!!! GM, how am I supposed to FIND NEW ROADS now??

Seriously FIND NEW ROADS? Why don’t you just have a bunch of monkeys running around, thru, and on top of the Volt. It would probably be way better, cheaper, funnier and memorable than what you’ve been coming up so far! FIND NEW ROADS – is it now 4-wheel drive too?

LOL Jay – power-assisted covered cup holders (ya BIG GULP SIZE please!) or by power-assisted did you mean heated cup holders, since they still haven’t figured out how to add the heated steering wheel yet, nor the hole they need to cut for the sun roof option!!!

Glad they’re coming out with more color options, but it seems like we have plenty of white/gray options to choose from now. Sheesh.

  6. GeorgeS says:

Out with the old grey and in with the new!!

  7. GeorgeS says:

I swore I’d get the Crystal Red but ended up with silver Ice and I’m glad I did. It does not show our Arizona dust. I can get by with a quick sponge bath of the rear black area.

  8. Anthony says:

Ooooh, can we play the “guess the lowered price” game?

    $28,590 after $7500 tax credit ($36,140 sticker, about a $3,500 price cut).

  9. Debilynn says:

I was really hoping for a pink Volt. I guess I am going to have to settle for some other color.

  10. Anon says:

I’m not driving a car without a sunroof..which means although this car looks great..it’s a no go for me. Add a sunroof if you want more customers GM..because many of us won’t buy a car without one!
